Chapter 3: The Mysterious Detector (Part 1)

Dark Small Medium Large Original Scroll to Bottom

Upon entering this space of over fifty square meters, Shen Fei was immediately filled with a sense of comfort. Although the moonlight was completely obscured by the leaves, rendering it pitch dark, Shen Fei felt a sense of reassurance. He fumbled around under the tree roots, retrieved a fire stick, and, after shaking it a bit, lit the oil lamp placed against the tree trunk, illuminating the space.

If it were not for the glaring map laid out before him, Shen Fei might have truly thought that he had merely been struck on the back of his head by a branch

After finishing wiping, Shen Fei sniffed the towel, immediately gagged, threw the towel far away, opened the kettle lid, took a few sips of water, and began to punch again

While Shen Fei was incessantly threatening and enticing, a thought suddenly emerged in my mind: "XXX detector binding completed, cannot be解除, please supplement energy for upgrade"

"Uh, what detector? Binding? Irreversible? Energy upgrade? What does this have to do with anything? Get out of my head quickly, or I will make you pay for it." Shen Fei was momentarily stunned but quickly resumed his threats, as no one likes to have something inexplicable cluttering their mind.

Before reaching the valley, Shen Fei felt a wave of heat approaching, and only then did he realize that the red smoke was actually produced by the trees in the valley being burned. He couldn't help but turn pale and exclaim, "Oh no! This is disastrous! A wildfire has broken out." The thought that this fire might spread towards the town made Shen Fei abandon his intention to admire the magnificent scene of the raging flames, and he prepared to turn back to inform the townspeople.

Just as Shen Fei finished wiping with the second towel and was about to continue his training, a dazzling red light suddenly shone through the gaps in the leaves. Immediately afterward, a loud bang echoed, shaking the ground slightly.

Bathed in the dim moonlight, one can see a branch in the forest that spreads wide, resembling a short tree akin to an umbrella. This tree is peculiarly enveloped by a circle of thorns, with dense vines winding from the thorns to the branches, creating a space between the tree roots and the thorns

As Shen Fei comforted himself in this manner, he quickly ran towards the outskirts of the town. However, he could not understand why, but the thought of his sister getting married filled his heart with a deep bitterness, accompanied by a sense of melancholy.

However, after discovering that he could control this strange object, Shen Fei was only briefly delighted before immediately feeling an overwhelming curiosity as he silently chanted: "Activate!" The circular map reappeared before him, and Shen Fei, naturally full of interest, began to experiment with this item.

Just as he turned around, a gust of wind swept in from behind. Shen Fei felt an excruciating pain at the back of his head, as if he had been struck by a branch or something similar. Confused about why the wind had suddenly picked up, Shen Fei rolled his eyes and collapsed to the ground, losing consciousness.

With no other options, Shen Fei had to endure the pain in his backside while sitting in meditation, attempting to sense his own mind. Naturally, he achieved no results; he could not perceive anything existing within his brain. Even the swelling at the back of his head began to gradually subside.

The reason Shen Fei established this base, aside from his personal preferences, was also to secretly practice martial arts. He did not even mention this to his sister, let alone inform his elder brother. As for why he kept it a secret, it was simply due to the nature of youthful pride, for the greasy odor emitted from his body could certainly be overwhelming. He discovered this when he began practicing martial arts at the age of five, which led him to construct this base

Strange, how could such a large wildfire have been extinguished by the strong wind just now? But where did that strong wind come from? Shen Fei, puzzled, touched the back of his head, but he immediately drew back his hand with a sharp intake of breath; there was a painful bump on the back of his head. This made Shen Fei kick that piece of wood a few times.

Not long after that strange object disappeared, Shen Fei groaned as he got up, rubbing the back of his head: "It hurts so much, what on earth hit me and knocked me out?" Turning his head, he saw a charred piece of wood lying on the ground, which immediately became the culprit, prompting Shen Fei to kick it fiercely: "Damn it! I told you not to hit me! I told you it hurt so much!"

Bursting out of the town, Shen Fei did not linger. Under the dim illumination of the moonlight, he hurried along the familiar path towards a small forest outside the town, where he had a secret hideout.

Shaking my head, I suppose it doesn't matter. Seeing the way my brother-in-law fears my sister, it seems that once my sister is married, she will be the one in charge. As long as my sister is happy, that is what matters. It doesn't matter if I, as her younger brother, have to endure some grievances.

With the light, it is naturally evident that this place has been meticulously maintained. The stone slabs are neatly laid out on the ground, which Shen Fei had stealthily taken from the town, taking over half a year to complete the installation. In addition to these, there is also an old low table placed under the tree roots, on which sits a plump cold water kettle, several inverted cups, and a stack of towels.

Shen Fei vented his frustration, then turned to look at the valley, discovering that the flames had diminished significantly, with only a few trees still emitting small flames, while everything else was billowing white smoke

In Shen Fei's eyes, an overwhelming curiosity immediately surged. Naturally more curious than a cat, he quickly put on his clothes, extinguished the oil lamp, and crawled out through the dog hole. Upon emerging and opening his eyes, he was astonished to see red smoke rising from a valley not far away. He immediately let out an excited shout and hurriedly ran in that direction

Having grown accustomed to the surroundings of Huwozhen since childhood, Shen Fei was very familiar with the environment within several miles. Not to mention that the sky was now illuminated by the sudden appearance of red smoke, even in the light of the moon, he could chase after wild rabbits in these mountains and forests with ease. Therefore, after running for a while, he arrived at the valley.

No matter how much Shen Fei tried to persuade, the thing in his mind remained unresponsive, and that map lay quietly before his eyes

No matter how Shen Fei manipulated it, he could only find that the small light spot represented himself, and the area displayed on the map was centered around him, showing the scenery on the ground within a radius of ten meters. Beyond that, he could not discern any other functions.

Shen Fei attempted to walk towards a tree, and the light spots on the circular pattern also moved towards that tree

The pitch-black dense forest could not hinder Shen Fei's steps at all. This mountainous area was devoid of venomous snakes; if any snakes dared to show themselves, Shen Fei would have snake soup for his late-night snack. Children these days are never afraid of snakes, rats, or insects; after all, they are all delicious sources of meat. Why would they be afraid? Just thinking about it makes one salivate, and upon seeing them, wouldn't they rush right in?

What is going on? There is a map glaring in front of me all day long; isn't this distracting?" With no other options, Shen Fei could only mutter helplessly. As soon as he said this, a thought suddenly popped into his mind: "Silently close hetushucomcom, turn off the detector, silently activate, start the detector, it is recommended that users keep the detector on at all times, as the basic functions do not consume energy.

Shen Fei blinked vigorously, but even with his eyes closed, he could still see this thing, which made him exclaim in astonishment: "Inner vision? But isn't inner vision supposed to be about seeing one's own body's meridians? What on earth is this thing?" As he spoke, he took a few steps back in a state of panic.

More importantly, after a slight calm, Shen Fei discovered that the scenery near the light spot was exactly the same as the scenery around him, only much smaller in scale. However, the view in his eyes was dim, while within that circular map, it was vibrant and bright, resembling the scenery under the blazing sun.

Upon seeing this place, Shen Fei could not help but feel a surge of pride. The thorns and vines were planted by him around this tree when he was five years old. It can be said that this secret location was entirely established by his own hands and efforts

Identifying the direction, Shen Fei pushed aside a clump of weeds, bent down, and crawled into the deliberately left doghole-like passage.

As the fresh blood oozing from Shen Fei's head wound stained the silver sphere, a series of wave-like ripples resembling water patterns appeared on the surface of the silvery metal ball. It rapidly transformed into a liquid, enveloping Shen Fei's entire head. Finally, with another flash of the rippling water patterns on the surface of the metallic liquid, the pool of silvery liquid vanished without a trace.

However, this retreat caused Shen Fei to be momentarily taken aback, for the luminous point on the circular image remained still, while the images surrounding the luminous point were in motion, also appearing to retreat.

But his actions suddenly stopped, and after a moment of daze, he immediately rubbed his eyes, then, in great astonishment, reached out to grope in front of him. Following that, he exclaimed: "Heavens! Why is this ghostly thing appearing before my eyes?"

Shen Fei does not engage in random punches and kicks; each move is executed after a moment of stillness, and a knowledgeable person can immediately recognize that he is practicing with a coordinated mindset. However, after a short while, less than half a stick of incense, Shen Fei stops, picks up a towel to wipe his body, and while wiping, he mutters: "Really, why do I sweat so easily? This sweat is oily, sticky, and smelly! I end up wasting a towel every time. I practice so hard, and all my pocket money goes to buying towels! Sigh, but at least it's better than buying clothes."

If Shen Fei could see what had knocked him unconscious, he would undoubtedly be astonished, for a fist-sized silver-white metal sphere was stuck to the back of his head

"Hmm, I must practice my skills," Shen Fei muttered to himself, began to undress, and soon found himself completely bare, starting to punch and kick in this enclosed space.

"Only an idiot would keep this damn detector on all the time." Shen Fei cursed, immediately reciting the command to turn it off. The map that had been displayed in front of him vanished instantly, prompting Shen Fei to cheer and jump up in excitement

Shen Fei was utterly astonished, for just a moment ago, a circular image with a diameter the size of a palm appeared before his eyes. In the center of this image was a tiny, flickering white dot, motionless, surrounded by intricate images of small flowers and plants.

This discovery made Shen Fei jump up immediately: "Wow! Is this actually a map?" But he quickly pressed his hand against the back of his head and shouted angrily: "Damn it! How dare you possess me? You monster, get out of me right now. Don't you know my boss is a Level 9 warrior?"
